My dear Commodore
May I ask you to listen
to the claims of a poor
laboring man, Patrick
White, who wants to work
at the Navy Yard. He
is a poor honest fellow
and I will be very grateful
if you can find him some
work. His wife is an
old servant of mine.
Forgive me for troubling
a Gentleman of your
consequence about so
small a matter
But believe me very
truly and respectfully
Yours
M E W Sherwood
